ETB (Empresa de Telecomunicaciónes de Bogotá) 2012-2016

 

ETB is the leading telecommunications company in Bogotá, with an approximate revenue of $800M and +10K employees.

The company underwent a major transformation which started in 2012, and involved an investement of $1 billion dollars. It's aim was to reposition the company as a leading telecommunications company nationwide. 

For Kattan, who assumed the presidency of the company in 2012, this has been the biggest challenge he has faced. The difficulties of the sector, the unions, the bureaucracy of the company, the few good practices and the size and complexity of the company contributed to the challenge that Kattan took when he was named president of the company.  

While he was working at ETB, Saul Kattan achieved the following:

• Created more than $1 billion dollars in value to shareholders in the last 4 years

• Changed the 7-year, decreasing tendency of revenues and flipped it to profits

• Innovations (like Fiber Optic) were introduced from other countries and expanded on a national level. Fiber optics, the creation of a digital TV platform and 4G mobiles were some of the telecom innovations Saul Kattan brought to Colombia. Additionally, all the copper network of Bogota was changed for fiber optics, launching the first "fiber to the home" (FTTH) program in Colombia

• The company's strategy was changed and developed to be driven by customer service. This included a new strategic plan for the company to be in place for the next 10 years

• All employees were trained with new technologies and the new corporate philosophy.

• ETB issued bonds in international markets to guarantee the financing of the strategic plan.

• In 2014, the profits of ETB reached 371,000 million pesos, the highest figure in more than 20 years for ETB.

• The company's equity increased by 30%, while liabilities decreased by almost 29%.

• The price of shares increased by 30%
